 Honouring Our Familiars
In August every year we have many special days that honour our animals and wildlife, see the full list below under the Events Calendar.
Therefore, in every August's issue of Revelations, I would always add a picture of my two familiars to honour them.
Carlos has since passed earlier this year, he reached a ripe old age of 17 years and 2 months. We both miss him heaps. Yet, I know somehow he is still hanging around here...
This is a beautiful picture of them both together, love how shining their coats are. Zachary would often rest his paw on Carlos, connecting with him. And Carlos is looking at me with those eyes that says so much...

August Forecast
 We are currently in Leo season. The Leo season runs from 23 August through to 22 September. It is a fire element, a fixed sign and is ruled by the Sun, the planet that rules our confidence, creative expression, our ego, our joyfulness and our pain, its your power centre and very magnetic energy.
This Leo energy invites you to step into the spotlight, share your talents and be unapologetically yourself. This Leo energy is also heart-centered, encouraging generosity, loyalty, and deep connections.
The Sun symbolizes our core essence, the energy that sustains life, and the spark that drives us. It governs our sense of self, purpose, and how we shine in the world. Shine brightly this month!
Mars in Libra
 On 6 August through to 22 September, the planet Mars moves into Libra. Mars the warrior planet is asking us to resolve conflict in a polite and graceful manner.
According to the traditional astrologers, these two energies don't work well together because of Mars very challenging energy. Venus rules harmonious feminine Libra, while Mars is a powerful masculine action warrior force. As a result, when Mars is in Libra, the action wants to be more elegant and imbued with civility.
Actually, Mars in Libra can work really well if we are careful, if we move forward with strength, but if we infuse ourselves with grace, harmony, and peace. Here, the dynamic is to remember to be courteous and cooperative rather than to fight or use harsh words to resolve the conflict.
Libra's smooth, lovely energy is all about social harmony, so embrace it, flow into it, and keep in mind to behave politely. Mars in Libra really doesn't mesh well with coarse foul language, fighting, and aggression.
Full Moon in Aquarius
 On 9 August, we have a Full Moon in the sign of Aquarius. There are also many planets aspecting this Full Moon. Let us step through them...
We have Pluto in Aquarius, Uranus in Gemini, and Mars in Libra forming a Grand Trine. Thus, it's an Air Grand Trine that emphasises communication, our ability to think, and our unique energy that is all about mindfully creating our reality. Being aware that our beliefs and thoughts contribute to the creation of our desired life outcomes.
But hold on, there's more. Due to a little Trine, there is also a Kite happening. Uranus is combining all of this energy with Mars at the bottom of the Kite, and forming harmonic aspects with Saturn, Neptune, and Pluto. Everything depends on taking your bravery, self-assurance, and lovely sense of self and expressing it in a way that is harmonious, kind, cooperative and elegant.
Trines are very favourable, they suggest that the planets are working in harmony together to get the message across. They back each other up and are supportive of each other.
Also, during this Full Moon, Venus and Jupiter are conjunct in Cancer. The caring, loving, sensitive and amicable energy of Cancer is similar to that of giving a friend a huge hug as a way to show appreciation and affectionate support. Remember there is always a way to settle a dispute amicably and tenderly, so be mindful of this if you need to.
Another thing to add to this full on Full Moon is that all these planets are all hanging around major angles such as the MC, the Ascendant and IC. When this happens, its like the planets are demanding you take notice of something, you pay extra attention, something important is to be announced, or there may be a huge development, hopefully some very nice breakthroughs that will resolve conflicts in a peaceful manner.
This is such a powerful statement being made here, this Full Moon is so potent and dynamic. Step into this wonderful energy since it requires us to make a declaration rather than merely an affirmation.
Mercury Goes Direct in Leo
 On 11 August, Mercury finally goes direct at 4 degrees in Leo. If you have planets or natal planets between 4 degrees of Leo and 15 degrees of Leo, you will be feeling these wonderful productive and upgrading effects of this Mercurial energy.
Even if you don't have any planets in Leo, this Mercury retrograde has forced us to internalise our own inner authority in order to avoid disappointing ourselves.
Leo is all about accepting your inherent strength and confidence, your self-assurance, and inner brilliance. Mercury is the planet of ideas, thoughts, language, the words we use, our belief systems, and how we communicate. This Mercury in Leo energy has driven us to live by our word and by our promises we make to ourselves and others.
New Moon in Virgo
 On 23 August, we have a New Moon in earthy Virgo at 0 degrees. The Sun and Moon will be conjunct in Virgo, then we have the mini-trine between Uranus, Pluto, Saturn, and Neptune which is still active. Additionally, these planets are quincunxing the Moon and Sun in Virgo.
Quincunx means they are at 150 degrees away from each other and its not a comfortable degree. Its like the planets are not understanding each other, they are missing the point, therefore an adjustment may need to take place, hopefully not at the expense of the other.
What we have here is Saturn and Neptune in Aries. Aries is bold, lively, confident and creative, it wants to start anything right away, versus the Virgo's demand for service, attention to detail, and precision. Virgo's are meticulous, they want to take their time, and want to get it done properly, the first time. Meanwhile, Aries just wants to develop and advance it quickly. Therefore, we need to make this adjustment, which says, "Yes, be brave, be strong, be confident, and also breathe through it."
Virgo also loves to clean up the house, so it's a great idea to continue making any feng shui adjustments in your office or house. Give things away, sell them, release them, or simply toss them out. Give your house a new lease on life.
This New Moon is making a strong statement about how crucial it is that we use our spirituality to construct our reality by deliberate statements that energise our thoughts and prevent us from judging ourselves, for this is tapping into the shadow side of Virgo.
Overthinking, critiquing, overanalysing, and second-guessing are some manifestations of the shadow side of Virgo. Aries energy never second-guesses because it travels too quickly and doesn't have time to think about things, it just wants to get things moving forward.
When you are coming from Virgo's highest expression, it means to continue moving forward with service in your heart and make the required modifications with confidence in yourself. Be brave and avoid overanalysing or overthinking, since this can paralyse you and keep you stuck in your head and this will prevent you from coming up with your brilliant ideas.
Once again, we have the Sun and Moon on the IC angle making a strong statement. So keep your ear to the ground re what this could mean for you. Be extra attentive.

1 Horses Birthday. All thoroughbreds have the same birthday so that their ages can be standardised for comparison because of the historical lack of records of actual birth days. Their birthdays are January 1st in the northern hemisphere and August 1st in the southern hemisphere.
2 Jeans for Genes Day. A national day when people wear their jeans to raise much needed funds for research into birth defects and disease such as cancer, epilepsy, and a range of genetic disorders.
8 International Cat Day. First created by Colleen Paige, a strong animal welfare advocate, to bring attention to the plights of the domestic cat.

9 Full Moon in Aquarius. An intellectual mood.
9 International Day for World Indigenous People. This date marks the day of the first meeting, in 1982, of the UN Working Group on Indigenous Populations of the Sub-commission on the Promotion and Protection of Human Rights.
9 Red Nose Day. Every year on the second Friday in August, we invite Australian's everywhere to get silly for a serious cause to raise much needed funds to help stop little lives being cut short and support grieving families.
10 World Lion Day.
12 International Youth Day. A policy framework and guidelines for national action and international support to improve the situation of young people.
12 International Elephant Day. Bringing the world together to help elephants. Working towards a world that protects elephants, wildlife and their habitat.
10 - 18 National Science Week. Annual celebration of science and technology featuring 1000s of events organised around the country.
14 World Lizard Day.
15 International Homeless Animals Day. Every day, animals are abandoned or placed into kennels, dependent on charities and goodwill. Do something for your local animal shelter whether it be donate some goods, money or help.
15 World Cotton-top Tamarin Day.
17 Black Cat Appreciation Day. Did you know black cats are the least likely to be adopted and more often put to sleep.
19 World Photography Day.
19 World Humanitarian Day. Honours those who have lost their lives in humanitarian service and those, who continue to bring assistance and relief to millions.
19 World Orangutan Day. To recognise the most iconic victim of the palm oil industry.
19 - 25 Keep Australia Beautiful Week. Was developed to remind people about the simple things they can do in their daily lives to reduce the impact on the environment and encourage action.
21 World Senior Citizen Day.
22 National Honey Bee Day.
23 New Moon in Virgo. A great time to clean the house and everything else in your path.
25 - 29 World Water Week. Together we can develop solutions to address climate change and other water related challenges.
25 Lord Krishna Birthday. Hare hare!
26 International Dog Day. No one can win hearts like man's best friend and we honour this bond between man and canine.
30 Melbourne Day. Celebrating 190 marvellous years in 2025. Check your local paper for events and festivities near you.

Every month, I turn over 2 cards, one from the top of the deck to represent the Conscious energy and the other from the bottom of the deck to represent the Unconscious energy. I am always thinking of the big picture and exploring for the collective.
These two Tarot cards are also loaded on my Tarot Mastery private Facebook group for students of Tarot in Action to explore the meanings and share their insights with others.
I asked the Tarot cards what is the energy for the month of August 2025.
What do we need to be mindful of, so we can make the most out of it for ourselves and for others.
The Hierophant is in the Conscious position, and Death is in the Unconscious position.
  Summary...
I would say this is an important month for us because we have 2 major arcana cards showing up.
The Hierophant is making sure that we pay attention to ourselves. We may be caught up in what everyone else is saying and forgetting to listen to what we have to say about it.
Death symbolises a time of transformation when we let go of the old ways and allow for the new growth.
The message this month is to check in with the self. Since the begin of this year alone, we have changed, see that you move forward with your new ideas and plans.
The Hierophant
The Hierophant has a lot of activity happening around his neck area. There is the blue cowl, then little white strips, then there's the longer yellow strips that is part of his head dress. All this attention around the ears is asking us to pay attention to the listening function. Not just listening, but to hear what is really going on, on your innerside, your inner tuition, intuition.
There are many unions in this card as well, the two pillars, the 2 monks, the two keys, to name a few. This suggests to link these 2 aspects together. In other words, to listen to what you are being asked to do from others around you, and to also listen to what you have to say about it.
Death
Maybe this card is saying you have changed, things have changed around you. you are no longer who you were. Its time to do things differently. You have listened to what you think and its time to take action in this new direction.
Horses symbolise masculine active conscious energies. Horses are about moving forward and they also suggest it is happening right now, you are in it. Like the figure sitting on the horse, dressed and ready to charge forward.
You can see the King is dead, his crown has rolled off his head and he looks like he has been trampled by the horse. This is a significant tragedy. There is the River Styx, the river of forgetfulness, grieving and mourning that we have to go through. Then on the other side we have the Sun, the new life and rebirth of the new day, the new you and your new life's journey that lies ahead.

LUNABEARS LADS & LADYS - ANNUAL PICNIC
 We have been gathering for the LunaBears Picnic since 2007.
We raised $780 in October 2024
Thank you to Mastersons Bar. Heartfelt thank you to all that attended and to everyone that contributed. 16 people in total contributed this year, it means a lot to our furry friends!
The funds go directly to the Bear Sanctuary in Luang Prabang, Laos, through Free The Bears, with the resolve to end Bear bile farming forever!
